Statoconias, also known as otoconia, are tiny calcium carbonate crystals that are an essential component of the vestibular system, responsible for maintaining balance and spatial orientation in animals. Statoconias play a crucial role in detecting shifts in head position and linear accelerations, providing information to the brain about the body's orientation with respect to gravity.
