Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus (RHDV) is a highly contagious and often fatal pathogen that affects rabbits. Preventing the spread of RHDV involves implementing strict biosecurity measures, such as isolating infected rabbits, disinfecting affected areas, and maintaining good hygiene practices. Vaccination is also a highly effective measure to protect rabbits against the disease. When an outbreak occurs in a region, culling infected rabbits and the surrounding area is often necessary to contain the virus and prevent further spread.
Due to the high mortality rate and potential for significant economic losses in the rabbit industry, RHDV is a notable concern for rabbit owners, farmers, and wildlife conservation efforts alike.
