Etymology of PROLETARIANISM
The word "proletarianism" is derived from the term "proletariat", which itself originates from Latin. In ancient Rome, the term "proletarii" referred to a class of citizens who were deemed to possess no property or wealth but rather solely had their own offspring, known as "proles". The term was first used by Roman writer and statesman Marcus Porcius Cato in the 3rd century BCE.
Over time, the term "proletariat" came to represent the lowest social and economic class in Marxist theory, referring to the working-class individuals who owned no means of production and had to sell their labor in order to survive.
