In terms of diagnosis, an electrocardiogram (ECG) can detect the presence of atrial ectopic beats by recording the electrical patterns of the heart. Treatment is typically unnecessary unless they become frequent, bothersome, or are associated with underlying cardiac conditions. In such cases, the doctor may recommend addressing the underlying cause or using medications to control the rhythm of the heart.
